In order to earn this award, you will need to complete and master five basic elements of piano study.  You may complete these skills in any order.  I want you to succeed as much as you do so I will help you every step of the way.

Complete the lesson book for Piano Adventures Level 3A and 3B.

*Transfer students have use an equivalent primer and Level 3 method book.

Pass Level 5 and Level 6 of the Texas Music Teachers Association Theory Test.  It is not necessary to take the official state test; although, you might consider taking it since you are learning the material anyway.

You are required to memorize at least two pieces of standard piano literature. To help you select and learn your pieces, you may listen to them on YouTube here.  Circle your selections on your checklist (try to avoid two pieces from the same time period).

This is the most creative element of the Musicianship Award.  Research the history of the piano and present a report.  The report should follow similar rules for reports at your school with an introduction, two or three paragraphs of facts about the piano and its history, and a conclusion.

Have fun learning more about the story behind the instrument you are learning to play.
