Johann Sebastian Bach Award of Triumph

In honor of Johann Sebastian Bach who recognized the presence of God in his life and in his music and gave Him glory for his successes.

He signed each of his pieces S.D.G., Solo Deo Gloria (To God alone, the glory).

In order to earn this award, you will need to complete and master five basic elements of piano study.  You may complete these skills in any order.  I want you to succeed as much as you do so I will help you every step of the way.

You are required to memorize at least four pieces of standard piano literature: one from each of the major musical time periods.

This is the most creative element of the Musicianship Award. Research the musical time period of one of your performance pieces and present a report.  The report should follow similar rules for reports at your school with an introduction, two or three paragraphs of facts about the time period, and a conclusion.  Have fun learning more about music history.

A checklist is included in your Shelly Davis Piano Studio assignment book you receive at the beginning of the school year or you may download the Bach Award of Determination Skill Sheet here:  Bach Award Skills Sheet
